Happy New Year everyone! I don’t know about you but I am so happy to get 2017 behind me. I have high hopes for 2018 and all that comes with it! Today’s makeup post will be all about my makeup favorites of 2017!! I have been looking forward to this post ever since I started my blog last June. I am obsessed with reading everyone’s favorites because it’s the products that people have loved the most. So, if you’re interested in seeing what my choices are for the best of beauty 2017, just keep reading!
BEST MOISTURIZER OF 2017: First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream ($12)
I have chosen this as the best moisturizer because it works so well on my acne prone/combination skin. It hydrates very well while not making my face oily throughout the day. I wear it every single day under makeup and every night before bed. I will be buying a bigger size soon because I have almost used this whole bottle up. I recommend this for anyone with sensitive skin!
BEST CONCEALER OF 2017: Colourpop No Filter Concealer ($6)
I am SO happy that I discovered this concealer in 2017. I have used this every day for months. It is the best formula, coverage, and shade range. It is lightweight but also covers up acne scarring/redness very easily. I don’t spend a long time blending this into my skin at all. I have started to just wear this on my problem areas instead of foundation because of how well it blends on the skin. I would describe this as a satin matte finish. It hydrates while also not making me look oily in my T-zone. I love it!
FAVORITE SATIN FINISH FOUNDATION OF 2017: Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation ($36)
This is my most used foundation in 2017. It works perfectly with my skin and the shade Snow matches me really well. It is just as described: a comfortable foundation with great coverage. This is the one product from the Peach Perfect collection that I 100% recommend to people. I have never looked or felt cakey while wearing those even if I do have to layer.
FAVORITE MATTE FOUNDATION OF 2017: L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24 HR Foundation ($12.99)
First off, I know L’oreal is not cruelty free. I have had a very difficult time finding a cruelty free matte foundation that works well for me. So, if anyone can recommend a better one, PLEASE let me know! Until then, this one will have to do. It has worked great for me on days when I have a breakout and need something quick to cover it up. This foundation offers great coverage and stays on literally all day. My only issue is that the lightest shade oxidizes to where I have to bring all the way down my neck. Other than that, I really like the formula and lightweight feel it gives. Once I run out though, I will not be repurchasing because of the non-cruelty free claim.
FAVORITE PRESSED POWDER OF 2017: Wet N Wild Photo Focus Pressed Powder ($4.99)
This is by far the softest powder ever. It is affordable and sets my foundation so well. As you can see, I have really been loving it. I have hit MAJOR pan. I will continue to buy this again and again because of how well it works for me. I have heard this being compared to the Mac Mineralized Skin Finish which is expensive and not cruelty free. So, if you’re looking for a great alternative, try this powder! I do not recommend it if you have very dry skin because it takes away the oil very well but that is why it works so well for me.
BEST BROW PRODUCT OF 2017: L.A. Girl Slim Shady Brow Pencil ($5.99)
To show how much I love this: I just bought two backups for when I run out because of how much I use this brow pencil. I love it so much! It literally takes me less than a minute to fill out my brows because of how tiny the tip is. It matches my brow color perfectly. Really nothing bad I can say about this product!
FAVORITE GO-TO EYESHADOW PALETTE OF 2017: Jaclyn Hill X Morphe Eyeshadow Palette ($38)
I’m pretty sure that this is in everyone’s favorites… it’s so good! The formula is AMAZING, the color options are AMAZING, and the blend-ability is AMAZING. If you haven’t gotten this palette yet, do it now!! There are so many looks that I have made with this palette and I have loved every single one. The mattes are so smooth and the shimmers don’t flake off. It’s truly an incredible palette.
FAVORITE TRAVEL EYESHADOW PALETTE OF 2017: Tarte Maneater Eyeshadow Palette ($29)
Unfortunately, this palette is not currently available. BUT, Tarte will be re-releasing this palette with a little mix up. The larger pan highlighter will be split into two pans and the extra pan will be a matte black. I love that idea! I use this palette so much because it has my go-to, easy look for travel. It has my primer setting shades, crease shades, lid shimmer shade, and a deep crease shade. I will probably be hitting pan on this palette very soon. Plus, Tarte’s eyeshadow formula is my favorite. They are very creamy and blend really well. I’m absolutely obsessed with this palette!
FAVORITE MASCARA OF 2017: TARTE TARTEIST LASH PAINT MASCARA ($23)
I don’t think this is a surprise to anyone. I have used this mascara every day since I got it. It does everything I need in a mascara: separates, lengthens, and coats. Plus, Tarte’s mascaras are typically on sale so it’s easy to get them for a cheap price. I honestly recommend trying one of Tarte’s many mascaras. They have one for everyone!
FAVORITE BRONZER OF 2017: Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer ($30)
I had a hard time choosing my absolute favorite bronzer for this year because every once in awhile, I would use the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer for a shimmer/sheen look but 9/10 times, I would use the Milk Chocolate one. I still recommend the PF Bronzer for a sheen though! The Milk Chocolate Bronzer is a very smooth powder that is really hard to mess up. I have used a decent amount of it this year and I still haven’t really made a dent.
FAVORITE BLUSH OF 2017: Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Paaarty ($29)
I have a big obsession with nude blushes. They go with everything and can add the perfect amount of color to the face. The Tarte blushes are raved about my everyone. They literally stay on all day! They are pigmented just enough to where I don’t use too much. I really want to try more shades in this formula!
FAVORITE EVERY DAY HIGHLIGHTER OF 2017: Essence Pure Nude Highlighter ($4.49)
This has been one of my favorite drugstore finds of the year. You could put this highlighter all over your face and it would give you a gorgeous sheen that looks so natural at the same time. This highlighter used to be a dome shape and now it is completely flat from how much I have used it. It’s so cheap that I will buy this every single time I run out. This is my perfect champagne color and I hope they come out with more shades!
FAVORITE BLINDING HIGHLIGHT OF 2017: Wet n Wild MegaGlow Highlighting Powder ($4.99)
This highlight is absolutely stunning. It is so blinding, especially for the price. I use the shade Precious Petals but I have noticed that it is too dark for me during the winter so now I really want to try the Blossom Glow shade. This is a highlight that you really don’t have to try with. It apply perfectly and shines great in any light.
FAVORITE SATIN MATTE LIPSTICK OF 2017: BareMinerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lip Color ($19)
I didn’t realize it until I started thinking about my most used lip product, but I have actually used this product the most. It is the most comfortable lipstick that I own. It is hydrating while giving me a matte look. It is a gel feel that doesn’t dry down completely. When I don’t know what lip color to wear, I throw this one on and go. It looks great with a tan and without one. I really need to pick up more shades of this formula!
FAVORITE MATTE LIPSTICK OF 2017: Lorac PRO Matte Lip Color ($19)
I feel like the Lorac Matte Lip Colors are a hidden gem in the beauty world. I don’t hear anyone talking about them and they are great! The pigment is amazing; one swipe and it is opaque! They are creamy when they are first applied and then they become a complete matte look. I also have a deep plum color in this formula and it wears amazing too. I wore it to my prom! I highly recommend this lip product!
That’s all for my 2017 makeup all-stars! I think 2017 has been an amazing turn around for the makeup world. I know this is the year that my obsession really came into my life!
